👋 Hello and welcome! I'm Ramanpreet Singh, a passionate GIS Specialist with a unique blend of expertise in data analytics and environmental conservation. With a strong educational background and work experience in GIS, I'm committed to leveraging data to drive sustainable solutions.
🎓 My Educational Journey
After earning my Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, I was captivated by the limitless possibilities of data. My journey took an exciting turn when I discovered Geographic Information Systems (GIS). I instantly knew that GIS was the perfect intersection of my two passions: data and the environment. I pursued my postgraduate studies in GIS at Assiniboine Community College, where I had the privilege of learning from industry-leading professors. My academic experience exposed me to a plethora of GIS tools, including but not limited to:
- ESRI Products: ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS StoryMaps, ArcGIS Server
- Open Source & Others: QGIS, FME, Mapbox, CARTO
- Programming & Markup Languages: SQL, JavaScript, HTML, CSS
🌱 Environmental Advocacy
I am a fervent advocate for environmental conservation. Together with a group of like-minded friends, I co-founded an NGO called "Hari Kranti" (Green Revolution). We took it upon ourselves to contribute to our hometown's greenery, planting over 130 trees and ensuring their growth through regular watering and fencing. This initiative not only fortified my love for the environment but also gave me hands-on experience in community-driven sustainability.
🌟 Professional Experience
Upon completing my postgraduate studies, I joined [NextGen Drainage Solutions], an innovative Tile Drainage company. This role has been incredibly fulfilling, as tile drainage offers numerous environmental benefits, such as preventing soil erosion and optimizing water management. My work here allows me to contribute to environmental protection while applying my GIS expertise.
📚 Life-Long Learning
I'm a firm believer in continuous learning and personal growth. Outside of my professional life, I'm currently honing my Python skills, which I integrate into my personal ArcGIS Pro projects. I maintain a personal-use ESRI license to keep my GIS skills razor-sharp.
